the Thursday shuffle (new songs)

I just found out a while ago that uploading slash posting music is disabled. Multiply mukhang patalo ka na talaga tsk.

Anyway, I just finished organizing, and updat
ing my zuneHD, from the specific album to the year of release, and down to the specific track number of each song. Haha, biglang umiral ang ocpd ko. It took me two & a half days to do it, having one to two hours break, per six hours. A great way if want to skip meals :)

I sort of arranged it by g
enre, rather that doing it by playlist. I only have 32gb storage (sayang, may 64gb na yung zuneHD). So, with limited storage, I deliberately deleted some of the hiphop songs na walang kakwenta na na na-download ko dati (ung mga puro shawty, booty, in the hood, ganstah shit, at kung ano pang walang ka-kwenta-kwentang lyrics). Well, I still retained the 90's Rnb songs by Jay-Z, Another Level, TQ, Mase, Blackstreet, 112.

What I did really, was to organize the songs according to their respective genres: Indie, Indie Pop, Electro Pop, Contemporary Christian, Oldies + Boybands, and Classics (Canon in D type of music :p)

Well here are some of the songs I really enjoyed
listening to while doing the aforementioned task, & might as well share it:

1.   Heart it Races (Architecture in Helsinki Cover) by Dr. Dog
2.   A Teenager in Love by  The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
3.   Mushaboom (The Postal Service Remix)  by Leslie Feist
4.   The Lucky One by Au Revoir Simone
5.   <3 by Butterfly Bones
6.   U-N-Me by The Watson Twins
7.   The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth by Clap Your Hands! Say Yeah!
8.   Best Friend by The Drums
9.   Mrs. Cold by Kings of Convenience
10. Stay by Safetysuit

no copyright infringement intended. Songs are owned by their respective labels.

Sedap Singapore Series: Wee Nam Kee & Tian Tian Chicken Rice

I prefer the white meat. Both kinds were moist and juicy.

Wee Nam Kee!

in NovenaVille, infront of the Novena Church

condiments tray

garlic-ginger, dark soy sauce, sambal chilli sauces

Soy and Roasted Chicken, white meat (SGD8, good for 2). The best tasting chicken rice :) The breast part (white meat) was not dry nor bland, rather it was moist and juicy.

Cereal Prawns (SGD 16) - the smallest serving. Price was quite steep though.
An order has 8 pieces of prawns with the oh-so addicting sweet-spicy-salty-milky crunchy cereal bits of heaven.

Maxwell Food Centre

along Maxwell Rd. (near the Temple)

inside Maxwell FC

Tian Tian

Tian Tian Chicken Rice hawker stall - the stall made even more famous by Anthony Bourdain (No Reservations, Travel & Living)

There was a long queue in this hawker stall. The chicken rice was pegged at SGD4 with soup, which was good for one person. Taste-wise, it kind of lacks that "chicken rice flavor" that I was expecting, I guess Wee Nam Kee is far more better. :)

Though I still have to try Five Star, Sin Kee, Boon Tong Kee, Pow Sing, Heng Ji, and the infamous Chatterbox, for that matter.

Curry Laksa Noodles

laksa noodles (SGD4.20), two stalls away from Tian Tian.

They used various ingredients like cockles, fish cake, prawns, bean sprouts, and rice vermicelli. I might say that this is close to the original (Katong), though it is not the best tasting lemak laksa. :(

Though I still have to try 328 Katong Laksa and Depot Road Zhen Shan Mei Claypot Laksa versions

This is the last of the Singapore Food Series :)

Sedap Singapore Series: Geylang Lor 9 Beef Kway Teow

Geylang Lor 9 Beef Kway Teow was the name of the place but I didn't order kway teow, instead, I ordered fried carrot cake and fried oyster cake :) Practically ate food from this place for three consecutive nights (for dinner) since this was quite near where we stayed.

Fried Oyster Omelete (SGD4)

Generous pieces of oysters with green onion leaves, beaten eggs, tapioca flour, fish sauce, served with sambal

Fried Carrot Cake (SGD3)

Fried carrot cake basically is cubed radish cake then mixed with preserved radish, dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, chillies, fish sauce and beaten eggs, served with sambal. This one is the white version. It is called carrot cake since in Singapore, radish is called white carrot :)

Sedap Singapore Series: Food Opera & Food Republic

A Singapore Food Safari Series

Food Opera at ION Orchard Mall

What You Do Prata dishes. Mostly Indian - Curries, Basmati rice, biryani, etc.

Mutton Mutarbak with curry dipping sauce(SGD6) - better than Shiok's version

Cheese Prata with curry dipping sauce (SGD2.80)

Gindaco!

Tsukiji Gindaco takoyaki at ION Food Hall

Open Kitchen

Takoyaki balls on display

Takoyaki with the japanese egg salad topping (SGD8)

Possibly the best takoyaki I've ever tasted. Each ball is packed with rich ingredients such as pieces of diced baby octopus, red pickled ginger, tenkasu, dried shrimp, and green onions then grilled to a lovely golden brown color, then topped with a special brown sauce, mayonnaise and topped with shaved dried bonito and aonori seasoning - a mastrerpiece! There is an option to add Japanese egg salad on top, as such.

The Taiyaki stall - fish shaped Japanese cakes with filling

various fillings to choose from - sweet sand savory fillings

Food Republic

at Vivo City

Char Siew and Wanton Mee (SGD4)

Fried Dumplings

Kueh Tu Tu (Tan's Tutu Coconut Cake).

Kueh Tu Tu basically are little steamed white rice flour cakes with delicious fillings of coconut or peanut served fresh and warm on pieces of pandan leaves.
I tried both the coconut and peanut filling. Not bad though. I liked the peanut filling more. :) The coconut filling was reminiscent of the last time i ate pan de coco which was agonizing :p

Sedap Singapore Series: Street Food Finds

A Singapore Food Safari Series.

Manong Dirty Ice Cream

One shouldn't miss trying this whenever you're in Singapore. These makeshift stalls/ push wagons are found mostly along the busy Orchard road, especially during weekends.

There are numerous flavors to choose from, like red bean, durian, classic chocolate, mango, mixed berries and the like.

Each ice cream brick costs SGD1 if you opt to have it with wafer, and SGD1.20 if you want it with the rainbow colored- bread.

Xi De Li - quaint store that sells mostly fried finger food and fruits. This one's conveniently located near the Aljunied MRT station. I've tried the Goreng Pisang (SGD 0.70) is a popular snack, which basically is deep fried banana fritters - Malay style (it is the saba type of banana doused in cake batter, then deep fried to a golden crisp); and Fried Carrot Cake (SGD 0.70)

Fried food!!

Old Chang Kee - found all over the city. This one's in ION Orchard, Orchard Turn

Got to try the carrot K8 (SGD 0.80)

Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake

The oyster cake sold here is highly rated by ieatishootipost, one of Singapore's top food bloggers. Click to read the article.

The oyster cake really tasted fresh, using only the freshest ingredients and cooked to the right doneness. The cake had several pieces of juicy oysters along with strips of green vegetables, perhaps coming from the cilantro family. The cake batter was also of the right texture, consistency and flavor.

Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake
is located at Stall #22
in Maxwell Road Food Centre,(which is about a few steps from Chinatown)
and opens daily from 10am to 6pm.
