BRGR: The Burger Project

From the conceptualizer of Pino Restaurant and soon to open on 10 October Pipino (Vegetarian Restaurant), comes this new burger joint along Maginhawa St. in Quezon City. This customize-you-own burger is pattered from the famous The Counter Custom Built Burgers in the US, where an array of choices is presented to you on a paper, in checklist format.

The Counter: Custom Built Burgers Menu/ Checklist (mostly in California). The store in the US where the owner/s patterned his/their concept.

Steps For Maximum Burger Pleasure

In BRGR: The Burger Project, you are presented with the same concept where you get to choose your patty: beef, chicken or tofu (vegetarian); bun: poppyseed, potato bread, or oatmeal; cheese: bleu, mozzarella, gruyere or cheddar; premium toppings: bacon, chili con carne, caramelized onions, canadian bacon, pepperoni, deep fried onion rings (2pcs.), or guacamole; basic toppings: mango salsa, pineapple slices, jalapeno peppers, sundried tomatoes, egg, sliced onions, or sauteed mixed mushrooms; and type of sauce: wasabi mayonnaise, bbq, teriyaki, marinara, pesto, buffalo wing sauce, special BRGR sauce, or garlic sauce. Then, you also get to "name" your own burger.

The "pre-customized" burgers for thpse who lack creativity and passion for burgers, and eating as well.

ze checklist; yes, we both ordered a basket of fries (P60)

the outcome

dubbed as: "The Burger to Mend Your Broken Heart"
1-pc beef patty, poppyseed bun, blue cheese (which I had requested to be placed in the middle of the beef patty, mimicking "juicy lucy" burger), mozzarella, with bacon strips, sauteed mixed mushrooms, and bbq sauce. The damage: P240

bjorn's checklist

his burger

dubbed as: "The Bjorn Identity"
1-pc beef patty, poppyseed bun, mozzarella, with bacon strips, caramelized onions, sauteed mixed mushrooms, and the special BRGR sauce. The damage: P230

Service was good, and the burgers arrived on a reasonable amount of time. The wait staff were very accommodating and friendly too. Thumbs up for the new Customize-Your-Own-Burger burger joint in town :)

Ps. Pardon the photos, it was immensely hard to shoo guerrilla style under low light. It was raining too. I know, excuses excuses. haha.

Cooking takoyaki

At last, 6 pcs of Takoyaki (P100)

I must say that this is the best tasting takoyaki in Manila, somewhat close to Gindaco's. The difference is that they scrimped on putting various ingredients such as the octopus bits, red ginger, and katsuobushi flakes. It was quite dry and it didn't taste fresh as i expected, even though they cooked it upon order.

Gindaco's Takoyaki Boat with Egg Salad (SG$8)

Hana is the only Japanese restaurant in Little Tokyo which offers cook-as-you-order takoyaki balls, almost close to Gindaco's. Price is pegged at 100Php for 6 medium sized balls.

Chicken Charlie

right after exams with car, nats & jess :D

Hailed as the "Bonchon Chicken Shop" in Manila. Wings & Drumsticks!

Menu

Chicken Charlie Rice bowl= perfect lunch for 59Php

Chicken Wings and Drumsticks. in Soy garlic and sweet chili (those with tooth picks are the chili ones)

It is cooked upon order, so you get the freshest and juiciest tasting piece of chicken ever. The method of frying the chicken pieces were beyond the usual. I think they fry the pieces twice, then lathered it with their signature sauce of soy garlic and sweet chili.

It was great since it was not ordinary, it was different from the other shops that sell chicken wings. the skin was crunchy and crispy in a different way. You don't even need sauce to accompany your wings.

Chicken Charlie façade

Overall the chicken experience was delightful since it was beyond the ordinary chicken wing shop in the metro.

pardon the photos, all were taken using my phone's built-in camera :(

Anawangin Cove Adventure

04 to 05 June 2010

DIY aka. Man vs. Wild Anawangin Trip with Daph, Fx, Abby, Anma, Den, Mon, Les & Russ.

For God so loved the world, it rained almost non-stop during the whole trip. Going to Anawangin requires one to ride a motorized boat (or for the more adventurous type, a 4 to 5 hour trek via the mountains of Anawangin from Pundaquit). We braved the waves splashing directly to our faces. Daig pa ang Jungle Log Jam ng EK. :)) Though it rained, it didn't stop us from having a great slash grand time. Twas really fun!

Pitching tents pa lang, adventure na eh, pano pa yung iba :D
